2010 All Japan Snowshoe Race

Myoko, Japan

Travel with Tiger Global Athletics to ‘The Heart of Japan’ - deep into the ‘Snow Country’ known as Niigata Prefecture. At the foot of Mt Myoko, is one of the world’s oldest established winter resorts. With an annual snowfall of 13 meters, it is easy to see why Myoko is the traditional winter destination for Japan’s imperial family. Imagine competing in the All Japan Snowshoe Race - snowshoeing through pristine powder, breaking trail through thick beech and aspen forests, and afterwards going to the onsen (hot springs) to relax and revitalize. Meanwhile, back in Tokyo, there will be an excursion to Mt. Fuji, with a return trip on the shikansen. Since ancient times, Mt. Fuji has been the object of awe and admiration as a sacred mountain and a divinity of fire.

Optional Expedition Extension: Visit the Tokamachi Yuki Matsuri (Snow Festival). The festival is noted for exhibitions of snow creations and its kimono and silk fashion show. Tokamachi is very famous for its silk fabrics. Please inquire for additional excursion costs.
